The Michigan Wildlife Council is a governor-appointed committee whose goal is to educate the public on the importance of the conservation, management and funding of Michigan wildlife.
Their website needed a facelift along with some updates to functionality to increase user engagement. What began as a one-page exploration quickly turned into an entire site redesign. The same basic information structure for the site was kept while the visuals, interactions, and page layouts were updated.

A homepage redesign had already been in the works, so we were able to start with a high-level style, from wire-framing different types of pages and then translating it across the site. Working with our in-house developer, we simplified the page layouts into modular grids beginning with a hero header image at the top of the page and using negative space to help the user focus on chunks of information. We also explored new scrolling animations that engaged the user as they scroll below the fold, taking what would typically be static data points and making them come to life. For the finishing touches, we held internal user testing and collected all feedback by device.
